Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher, Stamped "J. RAMBO," Muskingum County, Ohio origin, third quarter 19th century, ovoid pitcher with tall flaring collar and semi-squared rim. Impressed with the maker's mark "J. RAMBO" below a large two-gallon capacity. The maker's mark on this pitcher likely refers to Joseph Rambo (1823-1881), active in Muskingum County, Ohio. Good form and scarce mark. Salt drips to spout and midsection. 3" T-shaped surface line to side of pitcher, which does not appear to be visible on interior. A small glazed-over base chip and a few minor nicks on underside at edge. Glazed-over rim chips. One rim chip, which is not glazed over, but appears to be in-the-firing. 1 5/8" hairline on left side of spout. 1" recessed contact mark (chip) on reverse.
