Five-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Stenciled Cobalt Rooster Decoration, Ohio origin, fourth quarter 19th century, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a stenciled design of a crowing rooster below the number "5" with geometric border. Chips to one handle. A chip to interior of rim. A 1" in-the-firing flake at edge on underside with a 2" glazed-over line extending upward from it on reverse. A salt drip on reverse.
