Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Stenciled Cobalt Rooster Decoration, Ohio origin, circa 1880, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large stenciled design of a crowing rooster, below a stenciled "6" with wreath border. Shallow chipping to underside of one handle. Rim chips. Thin sealed 4 1/2" crack from rim on reverse. Very faint 6" and 4" hairlines from rim on front. Thin 5" crack at base on right side of front, continuing 2 1/4" onto underside. 3 1/2" long flake to underside.
