Rare One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "J. EATON," South River, NJ, second quarter 19th century, squat, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated with cobalt dashes around the front shoulder. Additional cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Excellent condition with two minor base nicks, a shallow, glazed-over chip to handle, a 1 1/4" chip on interior of rim, and a minor chip on exterior of rim.
