Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Ohio or West Virginia origin, circa 1870, cylindrical jug with tooled shoulder and squared spout, decorated with a brushed cobalt flowering vine design bearing three blossoms composed of circular brush strokes. Form and color and more consistent with Ohio stoneware, although the decoration is somewhat similar to rare Pruntytown, WV stoneware. Loss to lower handle terminal. Tiny chip to spout, a minor in-the-firing chip to spout, and two small nicks to molding at base of spout.
