Rare Wheeling, WV Stenciled Stoneware Advertising Jug, Western PA origin, circa 1875, approximately one-gallon, semi-ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and spout, featuring the boldly-stenciled cobalt advertising "FROM / HOUSTON & REED / WHOLESALE DRUGGISTS / WHEELING, W. VA.". Additional leaf-shaped stenciled accents. A rare merchant name with unusually-large stenciling. Excellent condition with a tiny spout nick.
