Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1870, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with two brushed cobalt leaves or clovers on the front and back. Additional cobalt line decoration under each handle. Tight lines on underside. 3" vertical hairline at base on side of jar, extending from underside. Series of tiny, glazed-over nicks to rim. Additional glazed-over chip to rim. Glazed-over chip to end of one handle.
