Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Stenciled Tiger Decoration, Stamped "F.T. WRIGHT & SON / TAUNTON, MASS.," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a finely-stenciled design of an open-mouthed tiger surrounded by a hoop. This example has a virtually non-existent salt glaze, resulting in an exceptionally crisp and well-detailed stenciled design. Numerous small rim chips. A few nicks to edge of underside. Stone ping on reverse.
