Half-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Northeastern U.S., circa 1840, squat-shaped, ovoid pitcher with flared collar and tall rim molding, the front decorated with a brushed cobalt tulip extending from a slip-trailed stem. Spout decorated with a slip-trailed vine design. Very nice condition. Small shallow chip on interior of rim. 1 1/4" surface line at base, not visible on interior, which extends 1" onto underside. A few other short surface lines at base, continuing a short distance onto underside. All of these minor lines at base appear to be in-the-firing.
