Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "FLACK & VAN ARSDALE. / CORNWALL, ONT.," Ontario, Canada origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a bird with striped wing, perched on a scrolled branch. Brushed cobalt highlights to maker's and capacity marks. Very nice condition. Two minor chips to one handle. In-the-firing iron ping at base. Shallow chipping and typical wear to interior of rim, where a lid would rest.
