Five-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Large Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "WHITE'S UTICA," New York State origin, mid 19th century, ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, boldly-decorated with a large flowering plant bearing two differently-styled blossoms and three curled trails. Excellent color and decoration. Restoration to large cracked area covering underside. Large area of repair to base, primarily on reverse, not affecting decoration. Chips visible on interior base associated with this damage. Faint K-shaped surface line under one handle, measuring approximately 4". Some typical shallow chipping to ledge on interior of rim, where a lid would rest.
