Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BURGER / ROCHESTER," New York State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flowering plant with alternating cross-hatched, heavily-shaded, and lightly-shaded petals. Slip-trailed "2" to right of maker's mark. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Excellent condition.
