Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "C.W. BRAUN. / BUFFALO, NY," circa 1860, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt flower with circular blossom and shaded leaves. Slip-trailed "2" above. 3" and 2 1/2" hairlines from rim. A few minor base chips. 6" vertical hairline to right side of front, extending across underside. Two faint surface lines on reverse, not visible on interior. Small chip on interior of rim. Additional light wear along ledge on interior of rim where a lid would rest. Tiny nick to exterior of rim. Circular area of wear on interior base.
