Five-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. FISHER & Co. / LYONS, N.Y.," circa 1875, semi-ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large tulip plant bearing two blossom with dashed stamens. Slip-trailed "5" to lef of maker's mark. Includes Albany-slip-glazed lid and wooden dasher. Churn with a 2 3/4" hairline from rim, two minor rim nicks, some additional minor nicks on inner rim that holds lid, a 3 1/2" vertical hairline at base on reverse continuing 4" onto underside, a 5" flawed area to salt glaze at base, a 2 1/2" base chip, and some minor fry to edges of cobalt. Lid with large chips, wear, and 2" reglued piece.
