Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "JAMES HAMILTON & CO. / GREENSBORO, PA," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with stylized freehand flower blossoms at the shoulder, a freehand 4 surrounded by dashes at the base, and two freehand stripes at the rim. Heavy wear to cobalt. Staining to surface. Contact mark near base on front. In-the-firing, glazed-over spider line on interior of rim. Wear to top of rim on interior.
