Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Pittsburgh, PA Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, semi-ovoid jug with tooled spout, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising "B.F. FAHNESTOCK / & CO. / PITTSBURGH. / PA". Unusual graduated freehand stripes at shoulder. Base with stenciled "2" flanked by stenciled flourishes, above a freehand cobalt stripe. Large chip to side of spout and small glazed-over nick to top of spout. Tight cracks emanating from underside, including one long crack on side of jug.
