Rare Quart-Sized Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Tulip Decoration, Virginia origin, circa 1830, ovoid jug with tall, finely-tooled spout, decorated on the front with a vertically-brushed cobalt tulip. The design on this jug was likely modeled after examples of David Parr stoneware from Baltimore, which had been shipped locally. Small, shallow base chips, as well as a 7/8" shallow flake to edge on underside. Restoration to left side of spout. Reglued section to right side of spout. Additional small chips to top edge of spout. H 7 3/4".
