Rare Six-Gallon Double-Handled Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Depiction of a Man's Bust, Ohio origin, third quarter 19th century, large-sized ovoid jug with double handle construction, the shoulder accented with incised wavy lines, the front decorated with a folk art profile of a man's face with long nose, goatee, and top hat. Cobalt stripes to handle. Reverse incised "6" above stylized cobalt brushwork. Missing one handle. Spout chip. Faint line at base. Chipping to base. 3 1/4" flake to underside. H 18 3/4".
