Rare Eight-Gallon Open-Handled Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Ohio origin, circa 1860, ovoid jar with open handles and semi-squared rim, decorated with a stylized bird within a circular border. Large impressed "8" with brushed highlight at shoulder. Brushed cobalt highlights to handles. Missing one handle. Contact marks and piece of stoneware attached to front near base. Large reglued section to rim and shoulder area on reverse. A base chip.
