Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Impressed Heart Decoration, Stamped "CHARLESTOWN," Massachusetts origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder, flared rim, and open loop handles, decorated with three impressed hearts below the mark "CHARLESTOWN". Light iron-oxide wash to shoulder area. A good example of early Massachusetts stoneware. Small base chips. Some tight spidering surface lines. Chip to rim on reverse. 1 1/2" hairline to rim on reverse.
