Scarce Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Double Bird Decoration and Boston Advertising, attributed to J. Norton & Co., Bennington, VT, circa 1850, cylindrical jug with sloped shoulder and semi-squared rim, decorated with an artistically-rendered design of crossed birds perched on a tree branch. Jug is impressed with the advertising "M. DAVIS & CO. / NOS. 55 & 57 BLACKSTONE ST, / BOSTON". Poorly-restored handle. Base chip. Small stone ping on side of jug. Tiny spout nick.
