Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Fine Slip-Trailed Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BURGER / ROCHESTER," circa 1860, gracefully-potted pitcher with ovoid body, tooled midsection, and tall flaring collar with rounded molding. Front decorated with an artistically-rendered slip-trailed design of a flowering plant with alternating solid and hollow petals, extending from a group of leaves. Cobalt highlight over maker's mark. Excellent color. 5 1/2" faint Y-shaped line on one side. 6" vertical hairline on right side of pitcher's front, a portion of which is visible on interior. Pitcher rings fine. H 11 3/8".
