Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Swan Decoration, Stamped "ITHACA N.Y.," third quarter 19th century, cylindrical jug with sloped shoulder and squared spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a swan swimming on water, featuring looping line wing detail and a heavily-shaded neck and breast. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark and some light blue brushwork (probably accidental) below maker's mark. An unusual maker's mark with rare folk art design. Tight 8 1/2" inverted Y-shaped crack on reverse. Small chips to spout. Horizontal hairline to base of handle. H 14 1/4".
