Scarce Six-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Churn, Inscribed "Ohio," third quarter 19th century, slender, cylindrical vessel with tooled shoulder, flaring collar, and applied lug handles. Decorated with drape-like brushwork and a large flowering vine above the number 6 flanked by vines and underscored with the inscription "Ohio" in cobalt. Unusual and visually-appealing decoration. 9 1/2" crack from rim on front. Tight Y-shaped line at base and another line at base, which continue partway onto underside. 1 1/4" salt glob on reverse. J-shaped crack on reverse from rim.
