Two New York State Stoneware Jars, third quarter 19th century, both of cylindrical form with flared rims, the one decorated with a flowering vine design, the other decorated with an abstract foliate design. Shorter example includes a salt-glazed stoneware lid with chips, not original to the jar. Shorter example with glazed-over rim chip, a small chip to exterior and interior of rim, a contact mark to front, an in-the-firing chipped section to base, and some staining. Taller example with a base chip, small chips to interior of rim, and some staining to surface. H (of shorter example) 9 1/4".
