One-Gallon DEMUTH'S SNUFF Stoneware Advertising Jar, Stamped "F.H. COWDEN / HARRISBURG," circa 1880, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and flared rim, decorated with the stenciled cobalt advertising "DEMUTH'S / CELEBRATED / SNUFF / ESTABLISHED / 1770 / LANCASTER, PA." Hairline at base on reverse, extending onto underside, where it forms a Y. Very tiny rim nick. H 9".
