One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Shield Decoration, Stenciled "JAS HAMILTON / & CO / GREENSBORO, PA," circa 1875, semi-ovoid jug with tooled spout, decorated with freehand cobalt stripes and a large stenciled Federal shield surrounding the stenciled signature. 2 1/4" in-the-firing Y-shaped separation on underside. Three spout chips. Small nick to side of handle. H 12".
