Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Running Bird Decoration, Stamped "WHITES UTICA," New York State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jug with sloped shoulder and semi-squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a fan-tailed "running" bird on a stylized branch. Small base chips on reverse. Small glazed-over chip on front at base and small nick of front at base. Fry to cobalt. Hairlines at base on front. H 14 1/2".
