Scarce Large-Sized Stoneware RUM Jug with Coggled Bird Decoration, Old Bridge, NJ origin, circa 1820, approximately four-gallon ovoid jug with tooled spout and applied handle, decorated with a coggled design of birds holding leaves in their beaks, highlighted in cobalt slip. Additionally impressed "RUM" below rim, also highlighted in cobalt. Small base chips. Small spout chip and light wear to edge of spout. H 16 1/2".
