Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "HAXSTUN & CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a chicken pecking kernels of corn from a lawn. Significant restoration to flaking, including some of decoration. Restoration to decoration involves lawn below chicken, one feather in chicken's neck, and bird's left leg. H 11 3/8".
