Five-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Southern U.S. origin, 19th century, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim and pocket handles, the surface covered in a dark, streaky alkaline glaze with traces of rutile. Incised "5" on shoulder. Remnants of old bluish paint to surface. A few handle chips. Otherwise excellent condition. H 14 7/8".
