Six-Gallon Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES / STAR POTTERY / GREENSBORO, PA," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large stenciled star with rays, the center of the star in the form of another six-pointed star. Additionally decorated with stenciled roses and freehand stripes. A well-decorated example of Greensboro stoneware. Provenance: From a thirty-five year Western PA collection. Faint hairlines to underside. Small chip to one handle. Areas of staining. H 16 1/4".
