Spongeware "BUTTER" Crock, American, late 19th century, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim, decorated with blue sponging over a whitish ground. Marked "BUTTER" within an oval. Provenance: Lynn White Collection, Readfield, ME. Several cracks and hairlines from rim. Small rim chip. Small base chips. H 5 3/4" ; Diameter 9 1/8".
