Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt "Fish Scale" Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, 2nd quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and lug handles, decorated on one side with a large brushed "fish scale" design with tassel-like accents and a dot on the interior of each scale. 2 3/4" loss to one handle. Top-to-bottom crack from rim on reverse. Two hairlines from rim on right side of front, measuring 4" and 5 3/4". Three in-the-firing contact marks on front. Chip on exterior of rim on reverse. H 10 1/2".
