Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "W.H. FARRAR & CO. / GEDDES, N.Y.," circa 1860, highly ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flaring collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt flower beside the number "2". Provenance: Lynn White Collection, Readfield, ME. 8 3/4" crack extending under one handle. 4" horizontal Y-shaped surface line on reverse. 2 1/4" inverted Y-shaped surface line under one handle. Minor chip on interior of rim. Contact mark on reverse. 2" in-the-firing separation line on interior of rim, which does not extend through to exterior. H 10".
