Rare Mobile, AL Stoneware Ship Chandlers Jug, American, late 19th century, squat-shaped jug with Albany slip glaze, incised "Compliments / of / Dominick Kunz." Kunz is listed in the book Mobile, Her Trade, Commerce, and Industries: 1883-84 as a "grocer and dealer in Dealers in Ropes, Seines, Gill Nets, Twine, and Fishing Tackle." According to this book, he also offered "a full-line of. . . ship chandlers, oyster tongs, rakes, etc." Numerous small spout chips. Small chips and wear to handle. H 6 3/8".
