Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "S. HART. / FULTON," NY State origin, circa 1860, bulbous jug with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt bird with dotted body and raised head. Slip-trailed "4" with flourishes to its right. Exceptional color on this example. Hairline in base of handle. Shallow 1 1/2" chip on top of spout, possibly in-the-firing. 1 1/2" hairline in neck of jug. H 15 1/4".
