Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Starburst Decoration, Stamped "LYONS," Thompson Harrington, Lyons, NY, cirac 1860, cylindrical crock with heavily-tooled shoulder, thin rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with an elaborate slip-trailed cobalt design of pointed and tornado-shaped rays extending from a bulls-eye-shaped center. Decoration is flanked by two slip-trailed cobalt "2's". A visually-appealing design. Provenance: Lynn White Collection, Readfield, ME. 3" crack from rim on left side of design. Additional 3" hairline to left of the right handle. 5" crack from rim on reverse. Minor chip at edge on underside. H 9".
