One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird-on-Stump Decoration, Stamped "WHITES UTICA," NY State origin, circa 1870, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated with a stylized slip-trailed cobalt design of a bird with turned head, perched on a stump. Handles have original holes to allow for a metal bail handle. As-made condition with an in-the-firing recessed spot on front including a small area of kiln residue. H 10".
