Scarce Stoneware Wax Sealer with Eagle Decoration, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with sloping tooled shoulder and rounded rim with wax sealer interior, the front decorated with a stenciled federal eagle clutching olive branches and arrows and holding a banner in its beak, which reads "STAR". Freehand cobalt stripes at shoulder. Provenance: Tom McCandless Collection, Hopewell, NJ. Thin cracks throughout much of surface. Glazed-over base chip. Staining to surface. H 8 1/2".
