One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "J.M. PRUDEN / ELIZ-TOWN, NJ," circa 1840, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a stylized slip-trailed floral design on one side, the opposite side with cobalt border around the impressed mark of Elizabethtown, NJ potter, John Mills Pruden. Two small base chips. Two small chips in handle along with a 1" line in same handle. H 8 7/8".
