Outstanding Large-Sized Westerwald "GR" Stoneware Jug with Cobalt and Manganese Decoration, German origin, circa 1750, highly ovoid jug with tooled foot and narrow, heavily-tooled collar. Front decorated with a large Georgius Rex medallion surrounded by a visually-stunning incised sunburst, flanked by incised foliate designs. Body highlighted in cobalt slip and collar decorated with manganese. Incised "1/2" on reverse. In-the-firing separation at upper handle terminal and on underside of handle. Hairline on underside, continuing 1" onto base. H 9 3/4".
