Open-Handled Stoneware Jar with Incised Floral Decoration, probably NY State origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with tall collar and open loop handles, decorated on both sides with an elaborate incised flower flanked by leaves extending from a central stem. Decoration filled with cobalt slip. One handle restored. Restoration to approximately 5" x 5" area of surface on rim and shoulder beside restored handle. A few glazed-over and a few post-firing base chips. Some minor lines at base, which do not extend through to interior. H 12 3/4".
