One-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, early 19th century, ovoid jug with tooled spout and applied strap handle, decorated with a brushed cobalt bird with spotted body. Desirable small size and unusual decoration for this time period. 3 1/2" x 3/8" flake off reverse. Spidering hairlines throughout shoulder area. 1 1/8" x 1/4" flake off left side. Two glazed-over base chips. H 9 3/8".
