Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "P. HERRMANN," Baltimore, MD, circa 1875, ovoid jar with squared rim and tab handles, decorated front and back with an unusual brushed cobalt drooping flower design. Impressed with Peter Herrmann two-gallon mark on shoulder. Several rim chips. Traces of old green paint, not associated with any repair, on surface. Traces of bluish-gray paint on interior of rim, not associated with any repair. Light wear to surface. Slightly recessed spot at base with small piece of kiln furniture attached. H 12".
