Scarce Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Three-Stemmed Clover Decoration, Stamped "P. HERRMANN," Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1880, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and lug handles, decorated with an unusually-elaborate design featuring seven clovers extending from leafy stems. Reverse decorated with smaller clover design. Unusual size and decoration for Herrmann stoneware. Large chips to one handle. Large chip to opposite handle. Minor rim chips. Long vertical in-the-firing separation on interior, visible as an 8" Y-shaped hairline on exterior. Staining to surface. H 16".
