One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "WEST TROY / POTTERY," New York State origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a long-tailed bird perched on a stylized branch. Two small base chips on reverse. A few spout chips, 1/4" line in spout, and small piece of kiln furniture adhered to spout above handle. 7/8" U-shaped line in handle. Traces of old red paint to surface. 7/8" X-shaped line on reverse. 1 1/2" faint line on shoulder. H 11".
