Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "HARRINGTON & BURGER / ROCHESTER," New York State origin, circa 1850, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a finely-slip-trailed flowering plant design composed of a large blossom and three buds extending from a central stem with leaves. Crisp slip-trailing with excellent color. Excellent, as-made condition with a 3/8" in-the-firing bloated spot under one handle and a very faint 2" glaze line under one handle, which also occurred in the firing and does not extend through to interior. H 10 3/4".
