Lidded Stoneware Jar with Heavily-Sponged Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO," circa 1860, straight-sided, salt-glazed jar with rounded shoulder and semi-squared rim, decorated around the shoulder with heavy cobalt sponging applied over slip-coated clay. Impressed "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO" on shoulder. Includes original salt-glazed stoneware lid. Jar is in near mint condition. Lid has two large chips to knob. H (incl. lid) 8 1/2".
