Ovoid Stoneware Jar with Incised Foliate Decoration, probably Manhattan, NY, circa 1810, approximately one-gallon ovoid jar with tooled foot, heavily-ribbed shoulder, and tall, slightly-flared rim, decorated front and back with an incised and cobalt-filled foliate design. Base chips. Two flakes and 3/8" drilled lamp wire hole on underside. Large flake on interior caused when hole was drilled. Several small rim chips. 3 1/2" Y-shaped line on one side, which does not extend through to interior. 1 3/4" line on underside, extending 2" up base of jar. 2" in-the-firing contact mark on side. 1/2" glazed-over stone ping on one side. H 10 3/4".
